Ambubachi Festival in Kamakhya Temple

The Ambubachi Mela is celebrated in the capital city of Guwahati, in the northeastern state of Assam in India. The Ambubachi Mela is the most important festival of the Kamakhya Temple of Guwahati.In 2017  the beginning date of Ambubachi Mela is June 22nd and the festival ends on June 26. 

The Ambubachi festival is closely related to the Tantric cult and is also known as Kamkhya Devi Puja. It is believed that Goddess Kamakhya goes through her menstrual cycle during these days and therefore the temple remains closed for three days. Ambubachi Mela is also known as Ameti or Tantric fertility festival and is a four-day mela (fair). 

It is widely believed that Goddess Kamakhya goes through her yearly menstrual cycle during the Ambubachi days. The temple remains closed for three days � the menstruation period.

People in large numbers wait outside the temple on the fourth day, when the temple will be opened. Sanyasins and Pandas from around the country assemble at the Kamakhya temple during this period.

Large number of devotees make a mad rush when the temple reopens to receive the unique �prasad� which is small bits of cloth, which is supposedly moist with the menstrual fluid of Goddess Kamakhya. It is considered highly auspicious and powerful.

The Ambubachi Mela in Guwahati is celebrated every year during the monsoon season, which happens to fall in around the middle of the month of June.

Ashada is the fourth month in the traditional Hindu calender.It is also Known as Shunya Masam.This month is considered as inauspicious for performing marriages and other functions.

Sri Kurmam Temple

The only temple in the country where Lord Vishnu is in the form of Tortoise is temple of Srikurmam, which is one of his famous incarnations. The Vishnu temple located here is architecturally unique And the lord is famous as Sri kurmanatha This is a famous temple in south India. The temple is very ancient and small temple. According to popular legend is that to bless king Swetamahipathi is the first appeared of the Lord. unclean persons are forbidden to touch the water from the tank, as it is said that the bones of the deceased if thrown into the Swetapushkarani tank get converted into tortoises or kurmas. This magnificent temple of Lord Vishnu is famed for architectural beauty. It is famed for architectural beauty and the peace of mind it provides. It contains over 200 pillars and many inscriptions in Devenagri script dating from the 11th to the 19th century A.D. It contains many inscriptions ranging from the 11th century AD to the 19th century AD and the Shrine is noted for its architectural beauty. There is one important inscription in Srikurmam, which has led to a controversy over the authenticity or the authorship of the Telugu Bharata, which is attributed to the great Telugu poet Nannaya, the court poet of the great Eastern Chalukyan king Rajarajanarendra. The temple has beautiful pillared Mandapas and some of the pieces of sculpture done in granite are masterpieces of workmanship. The Vimana of the temple is built in the characteristic Chola type of architecture, though the outer gates beyond the prakara are much later. There are several sacred Teerthas within the temple. Those who comes to visit Arasavalli sun temple, will definitely visit this temple too.. It is very dark inside the temple. Village Srikurmam derives its name from the temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the Avathara of Srikurmam, the Avathara of a tortoise, and hence the deity is called 'Srikurmanatha. Temple Timings : Morning : 4.30 to 11.00 Evening : 3.00  to 7.00 The Dolotsavam is the most important festival celebrated at Srikurmam during March every year. On this occasion to witness the celebration thousands of  pilgrims will gather here. To get there, it is well connected by Road, Srikakulam is located 104 kms from Visakhapatnam. There is a good metalled road from Srikakulam. By Rail it is 104 kms from Visakhapatnam Railway station.

Eruvaka Purnima

This is a special festival celebrated mainly by the farmers and agriculturists in the state of andhra pradesh. It falls on the full moon day in the month of Ashadha. The farmers decorate their cattle�s with garlands and offer special treatment as the thanks giving ceremony .Also offers Puja to the sample of seeds also known as Navadhanya and agricultural implements. After this they pray to the almighty for a good harvest This festival is totally dedicated to the agriculture as the farmers depends upon the type of harvest so a good harvesting is necessary and they treat agriculture as their baby in the cradle.

Shani Trayodashi

The Trayodashi falling on a Saturday is called as Sani Trayodashi. It is considered as most auspicious for shani puja as it is favourite day of lord shani.He is one of the important planets from the celestial Navagrahas from the hindu astrology.

People who are suffering from adverse effect of shani or who are undergoing the period of Elenati Sani (Sade-Sani), Ardhastama Sani, Ashtama Sani or its antar dasa are generally advised to perform necessary remedial measures to please the Lord Shani to beget his blessings.

On the day of Sani Trayodasi, natives have to perform tailabhishekam. Some black grams, 100 grams of ginger oil packet, one kilo coal, a small black ribbon, 8 iron nails, some Navadanyams that is to be tied in a black cloth and donate the same to the temple priest or drop the same in a running water will definitely please Lord Shani Bhagavan. Offer food items to a crow and feed the needy persons. Do not purchase oil, leather, umbrella, Navadanyams etc., on this Saturday. Distribute rice with salt meals to poor people. Distribute black clothes have to be donated to the poor people on Saturday. It is advised to recite at least 108 times the following mantra to please Lord Shani Bhagavan. Natives have to perform pujas and abhishekams to please Lord Shani Bhagavan.
