Kanipakam Temple Annual Brahmotsavams 2016

The annual brahmotsavams of "Swayambhu Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy" begins on the day of Vinayaka Chavithi in Kanipakam Temple in every year. The temple biggest festival will be celebrated for a period of 21 days.

Pushkaram is an Indian festival dedicated to worshiping of rivers. It is celebrated at shrines along the banks of 12 major sacred rivers in India, in the form of ancestor worship, spiritual discourses, devotional music and cultural programmes. The celebration happens annually, once in 12 years along each river. Each river is associated with a zodiac sign, and the river for each year's festival is based on which sign Jupiter is in at the time. Due to regional variations, some of the zodiac signs are associated with multiple rivers.

Juhlan Yatra 2016

Jhulan Yatra, or the swing festival, is observed in the Shravan month and begins on the Pavitra Ekadasi and is generally observed for 5 days until Sravan Purnima or Balaram Purnima. In some temples, the Jhulan Yatra festival is observed only for a day. In other temples, it is celebrated on all five days from Ekadashi to Poornima.

Of all the sacred places in India, Mathura, Vrindavan, and Mayapur are most famous for Jhulan Yatra celebrations.During the thirteen days of Jhulan-from the third day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month of Shravan (July�August) until the full moon night of the month, called Shravan Purnima, which usually coincides with the Raksha Bandhan festival-thousands of Krishna devotees throng from around the world to the holy cities of Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, and Mayapur in West Bengal, India. The idols of Radha and Krishna are taken out from the altar and placed on heavily decked swings, which are sometimes made of gold and silver. Vrindavan's Banke Bihari Temple and Radha-Ramana Temple, Mathura's Dwarkadhish temple, and Mayapur's ISKCON temple are some of the major places where this festival is celebrated in their greatest grandeur.

The monsoon is very humid, and the temperature is still high despite plenty of rain. The joy at this time is to find a cool breeze, as the air is heavy with the humidity of the rains. So the devotees arrange for the pleasure and satisfaction of Krishna and Srimati Radharani by placing them on a swing (Jhulan) and creating their own breeze from the motion.

It is a most pleasing and satisfying festival, with the swings often highly decorated with forest creepers, jasmine (malati) that has newly blossomed in the season, and streamers of garlands. Sometimes they use a fine spray of rose water and direct it toward the Divine Couple on the swing.

Krishna Pushkaralu 2016

Krishna Pushkaralu is a festival of River Krishna which normally occurs once in 12 years. It takes place during the transit of Bruhaspati (Jupiter) into Kanya Rasi (Virgo Zodiac Sign). 

Vijayawada is located on the banks of the Krishna River. Vijayawada is very much famous for Krishna Pushkaralu. During the celebrations, devotees will take a dip in the sacred Krishna River to wash away their sins.

As per the legend, there lived a Brahmin in a village. He did severe penance towards Lord Shiva. As a result of it, Lord Shiva granted a boon because of which he was blessed with a power to purify the holy rivers. Thenceforth he was known as Pushkar (the one who nourishes). While traveling from one zodiac sign to another, Brihaspati aka Jupiter requested Pushkar to make the 12 sacred rivers holy. Various pujas and rituals were performed during the Pushkaralu.

The festival lasts as long as Jupiter remains in the corresponding zodiac sign. Major crowds will throng during the first 12 days. The first 12 days when the Jupiter enters the zodiac sign and the last 12 days when it exits the zodiac sign are considered as most auspicious. 

ABOUT KRISHNA RIVER:

The Krishna river is the fourth largest river, which is about 1,300 kilometers long. It originates from Mahabaleswar of Maharashtra and exits into the Bay of Bengal at Hamsaladeevi. The river flows through Karnataka and ends its journey in Andhra Pradesh before reaching its final destination viz., Bay of Bengal. En route, the river crosses Panchgani, Wai, Narsobachi Wadi and enters Karnataka at Kurundwad, and flows through Belgaum, Bijapur, and Gulbarga districts. Finally, it enters Andhra Pradesh near Deosugur and continues to flow through Mehbubnagar, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts.

It has many tributaries and Tungabhadra is the principal one and the other ones include Mallaprabha, Koyna, Bhima, Ghataprabha, Yerla, Warna, Dindi, Musi, Dudhganga.

Naina Devi Mela 2016

The word Naina is synonymous with Sati�s eyes. The temple of Naina Devi is situated on the top of a hill of Nainital named Naina hill. The Naina Devi Temple is an important pilgrimage and attracts thousands of devotees from far and near every year. There is a myth behind this beautiful place about goddess Sati or Parvati. There is a beautiful lake too known as Naina Lake. It�s said this lake this is the two blue eyes of goddess Naina.

During the time period of August or September a large fair is organized to celebrate the importance of goddess Naina and so the Naina Mata Festival. During the time of fair people of this place adorn their houses and shops to celebrate this festival. In this Naina Devi Fair folk cultural programs are organized. People perform folk music and folk dances. The fair lasts fort eight days and all the days and nights during it are celebrated with joy and delight along with the religious sentiments.

Mata Chintpurni Mela 2016

Mata Chintpurni Mela is a famous event held Chintpurni Mata Temple in Himachal Pradesh. It is also popular as Shravan Navaratris festival (Sawan Navratri).

The Chintpurni fair also called �Mata Da Mela�  is held in Maata ka darbar in village Chintpurni, the fair is held in Navratris and in Sawan Months during the first ten days of shukla paksha i.e. the bright half of the lunar month. The fair lasts for nine days during the navratris and for ten days in Sawan.

Maximum Crowd for Chintpurni Mela continues day and night but the attendance is highest on its 8th day.

This mela is held three times in  year

Pandharpur Yatra - 2016

The annual Pandharpur Yatra at the  famous Vithoba Temple at Pandharpur in Maharashtra attracts thousands of people.This yatra takes place every year on the 11th day of the bright moon in the month of Ashada.

There is no definite information available on the origin of Wari tradition but it has been taking place for more than 700 years.

 Sant Tukaram�s Palkhi procession starts from Dehu & reaches Pandharpur via Aakurdi, Pune. Lonikalbhor, Yavat, Varvand, Baramati, Indapur, Akluj & Wakhri respectively.

Sant Dnyaneshwar�s Palkhi starts from Alandi & reaches Pandharpur via Pune, Saswad, Jejuri, Lonand, Faltan, Natepute, Malshiras, Velapur, Shegaon & Wakhri to Pandharpur.

In 2016 , the Pandharpur Yatra Palki of Tukaram Maharaj from Dehu, Pune will start on 27th June 2016, and Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi from Alandi begins on 28th June 2016.

Pandharpur Yatra date is on 15th July (Ashadi Ekadasi) 2016.

Tirumala Tirupati Navaratri Brahmotsavam Dates 2016

Tirumala Brahmotsavam is an annual festival at  Lord Venkateswara Temple celebrated for nine days in the months of September and October.

In this year 2016, Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy Navaratri Brahmotsavams will be celebrated from October 2nd 2016 (Sunday) to October 11th 2016 (Tuesday). Popular stories trace the origin of this celebration to Brahma, the creator God, who first conducted this festival to Sri Balaji at Tirupati. Brahma worshiped Sri Balaji on the banks of the holy Pushkarini in Tirupati as a way to give thanks for the Lord�s protection of mankind. Hence, this utsava bears his name as �Brahmotsavam,� which means �Brahma�s Utsavam.�
